If you're planning to go on a cross-country road trip, here are some reasons why it might be better to rent a motorhome that you can both travel and sleep in, instead of renting a car and then staying at hotels.
You won't spend any time dragging your luggage in and out of hotels
If you rent a car and stay in several hotels as you make your way across the country, you'll probably spend a lot of time dragging your suitcases in and out of the numerous hotels you'll need to stay in. The process of taking your hefty suitcases into a hotel, unpacking your clothes, setting up your toiletries in the hotel room bathroom and then repacking everything and dragging it back to your car every few days could get tiresome, particularly as may need to repeat this process many times throughout this long road trip and will already be drained by how much driving you'll be doing.
In contrast, if you have your own rental motorhome, that will serve as both your accommodation and your mode of transportation, all you'll need to do after you find a suitable overnight parking spot is put on your pyjamas, brush your teeth and head to bed inside the vehicle, without having to do any packing of your suitcases or reorganising of your toiletries. This could make this trip feel less tiring, and ensure that you have the energy you need to enjoy the places you pass through during the journey.
You'll have the option of easily changing your location or position after parking up for the night
One of the reasons why those who go on cross-country road trips like to hire motorhomes is because having portable accommodation can make these journeys much easier. If for instance, you rent a car and stay in hotels throughout the road trip, you might occasionally find yourself in a hotel room that's a bit unpleasant. For example, there might be a bright street light right outside the hotel room window that keeps you awake or the other guests might be noisy. Whatever the issue is you will need to put up with it unless you're prepared to pack your suitcase again and go searching for another hotel late at night.
Conversely, if you've got your own rented motorhome, it will be much easier to improve your situation if something in the area you've decided to park in overnight starts to bother you. For example, if you experience the aforementioned issue with a nearby streetlight that makes the back of your motorhome, where your bed is, too bright, you could turn your motorhome around in the same parking spot, so that this light faces the front of the vehicle instead and its light doesn't reach your bed area. Similarly, if you park on a noisy street and cannot sleep because of this, you can simply start up your vehicle, drive for a few minutes and park on a quieter nearby street.
